Spirit Week
Valerie Gonzalez

Every year Allison Academy celebrates spirit week and students are allowed to dress down for five days. This year the student government decided to charge a dollar for each day the students wanted to dress down. The student government raised 190 dollars for the week of March 20th to March 24th. On Monday, we had jean day. A lot of kids wore jeans with polo style shirts, others just wore their uniform. It turned out very well. The student government collected 57 dollars from middle school and high school. Everybody had a great time!!

On Tuesday, we had jersey and formal day. A good amount of students wore formal clothes, but most of the students wore jerseys. Even Ms. Horwitz and Coach Edwards wore jerseys too. The most popular jersey worn was the Miami Heat’s. The formal dress attire consisted of a dress or a nice shirt with either a skirt or nice pants. Student government collected 45 dollars. The whole school had a fun time wearing their favorite team’s jersey.

On Wednesday, we had crazy hat day. Students were very creative with their hats. Some students created their hats during Ms. Dunn’s art class. Shawn Simms glued two roosters on his. It was really funny. Jacob George constructed a complicated design of strings for his. Almost everybody wore the Cat-in-the-Hat hat that Kim brought to school. The student government made 39 dollars. Everybody enjoyed wearing their crazy hats to school.

On Thursday, we had wacky day. It was a really funny day. Most of the students wore two different shoes. Some wore their pants inside out or with shorts on top of the pants. Sivan Cohen wore a unique outfit: she wore a shirt with a bathing suit on top of it, her jeans inside out and shorts on top of it, and her hair with two buns on the top. The student government collected 48 dollars. Wacky day actually turned out very wacky.

On Friday, we had field day. High school was divided into two teams. The red team consisted of 12th and 9th grade. The blue team consisted of 11th and 10th grade.  The red team won the 50 yard dash and flag football. The blue team won tug-a-war and the relay race. They both tied in kick ball.

The middle school also had two teams. They were separated into the green team and yellow team. The yellow team won! The field day ended with hotdogs and hamburgers prepared by Mr. Vargas, chips, cookies, and a water balloon fight so that everyone could be refreshed from running around all day. Everybody had a great time on field day.
